Let's discuss about each of them in brief

HTML 1.0 (1989-1994)

This was the first ever version of HTML ever released.

  • supported inline images and text controls
  • Very limited styling was possible
  • So we can say that HTML 1.0 lacked due to its styling limitations. Every page made looked similar with same background and font. This version was only supported by Lynx and mosaic.

    HTML 2.0(1995)

    This was considerably improved version

    • supported more browsers

    • supported forms with text boxes and option buttons

    • page background can be changed

    • tables were also supported

      • supperted creating tables and expanded options for formm elements
      • methamatical equations now were possible to be included in web pages
      • HTML 4.01(1999)

        • suppot for style sheet was added
        • scripting ability for multimedia elements was added
        • Now apperance and look of website can be changed just by changing the style sheet
        • HTML 5

HTML5 is a core technology markup language of the Internet used for structuring and presenting content for the World Wide Web. As of October 2014 this is the final and complete fifth revision of the HTML standard of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The previous version, HTML 4, was standardised in 1997.

          • Completely changed the way webpages looked

          • added new elements like:
          • section,
          • article,
            main,
            aside,
            header,
            footer,
            nav,
            figure,
            figcaption,
            template,
            video,audio,track,
            embed,mark,
            progress, meter, time,
            ruby,rt,rp,
            bdi, wbr, canvas
            and many more

Overall we can say that HTML 5 rocks specially with CSS
